If you have been going to LABC for a while and feel God’s call for you to be a part of the church, you may be interested in becoming a member. As a member, you have a responsibility to be an active part of the church in worship, fellowship, and other areas in order to spread the Word of God. The official statement from the LABC constitution is below. If you have any questions, feel free to call the church office.
SECTION 1: Acceptance into Membership
1. Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church receives as members those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, have followed in believer’s baptism by immersion, and have been accepted by a three-fourths (3/4) vote of the church. (The vote happens during business meetings, and the votes are taken on all the incoming members at one time, not individually unless circumstances prompt this.)
2. Candidates for membership may be presented by
- profession of faith
- letter of transfer (from a church of like faith and order, a Southern Baptist church)
- statement of faith adhering to LABC (southern baptist) doctrine (as a former member of a church not of like faith and order)
SECTION 2: Privileges and Responsibilities
1. It is a member’s privilege and responsibility to participate in
- worship
- fellowship
- discipleship
- ministry
- evangelism
2. It is also a member’s privilege and responsibility to actively support the church through
- identifying and using the gifts of the Holy Spirit
- the giving of tithes (one tenth) and offerings
- transacting the business of the church
- voting, being a member in full and regular standing
